I always wondered how MJ pulled this off. View the full patent here. (via Jus)

So this weekend I made a last-minute decision to check out Spike Lee’s huge “Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson” event. Coming up on wash week, I figured it would be a good time to rock my new Stuyvesants tee. As soon as I got to the park I started catching random stares from people. At first, I attributed it to the usual doppelgänger, ‘you look familiar comments’ I’ve been getting from people since high school (#SMH). But then some dude came up to me asked about my shirt. A few minutes later another dude came up to me & asked to take a picture of me; er um — the shirt. Then a few ladies came up and inquired about it as well. This pretty much continued throughout the entire day. Needless to say, it seemed folks were really eying my shirt. Totally unexpected — but the best part about it was having a chance to put a few new people on to The Stuyvesants record. Hopefully, they’ll actually end up checking it out.
The project has been growing in a really organic way since we released it. People have been finding out about through all different types of outlets from twitter, to radio shows to plain ole word-of-mouth. 3 months later there still seems to be a good amount of people just now discovering it and showing love. That’s something neither me nor Darien ever expected. If you’ve mentioned the record to anybody at all — Thank You.
Anyways, I say all that to say that we’ve finally got a store; albeit a small store, set up for the Stuyvesants’ tees. Check it out here and maybe pick up the new shirt while you’re at it. If you catch a couple of stares from people you don’t know, make sure you put them on!

Sidenote: Happy Birthday Golnaz!
YouTube – Michael Jackson – Lisa It’s Your Birthday (Authentic).
I know everyone hates that awkward moment when you know you can’t carry a note but still gotta sing the birthday song to make somebody’s day. It sucks but you know you gotta do it. Anyways, after you sing the original version, and then after somebody who can actually carry a note starts going into the Stevie version with the soul clap, we should just go ahead and add the Michael Jackson version from the Simpsons to the mix (Reserve the 50 Cent version for the club later that night). Just replace “Lisa” with the Birthday Boy/Girl’s name, and repeat the hook until it gets tired (Approx. 4x). I think it’s pretty simple. Maybe i’m asking for too much? Mmmm…probably.
Here’s the recorded version that Michael Sang and here’s the show’s version that they aired on The Simpsons with an MJ replacement singer. Mike’s label wouldn’t let them use his recorded singing voice for the show although he did do all the speaking parts. Must have been a really weird contract. I personally like the beat from the Simpsons version better. Bart was killing it on the trash can conga!
