Ma.tt Mullenweg Live Interview on WordPress Weekly

A really great interview with the creator of WordPress can be found here. Ma.tt seems like a pretty cool guy (He’s only about 25 years old. I didn’t realize that until today.)
Here’s my favorite quote:

“GPL is quite clear. It is the resistance to it that creates the confusion.” – Unknown WordPress user (Guest #55)

I thought that was pretty funny. Mostly what I took from the interview was that Matt doesn’t mind what you do with WordPress on your own site. He isn’t trying to go around suing the WordPress community. He only wants to support WordPress users/developers who comply to the GPL, and use WordPress in his own image. That’s it. His goal isn’t to shut down people who use WordPress in non-conforming ways — he simply will not support those users by linking to them on wordpress.org.

Even more interesting is how you can apply some of the ideas in the interview with what’s going on in the ‘tangible’ world. Matt has some pretty interesting ideas about business models based on scarcity, versus business models based on embracing the abundance of a product. This could get DEEP. Anways, definitely check it out. If you have a good 2hrs to devote to it, its worth it.

That sounds like a great article, thanks for posting some snippets of it. I really had no idea Matt Mullenweg was that young too, it is amazing waht young people are doing these days. Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders and he is taking his company in the right direction.
