AutoFocus 1.0.1 Now available!

autofocus-splash-101

Fixes:

  • Adds IE6 & IE7 support (still a work in progress but FAR better than before).
  • Fixes the ‘Leave a comment’ page jump link.
  • Fixes images on the home page using the blog formatted index.php template file.
  • Fixes image ‘floating’ issue in the front page template that broke the image alignment.
  • Improved static navigation arrows for an easier UX.
  • Now pulls the ‘large’ (800px wide) image instead of the full size image for CSS backgrounds on the homepage (Images loads faster as a result).
  • Adds EXIF Data to image attachment pages (However, Shutter Speed does not work).
  • Fixes borders and shadows for Firefox 3.5 and Safari 4.
  • Reworked comments section to include Pings.
  • New 404 template that adheres to the site’s format.

Download it here.

IMPORTANT: If you’ve made modifications to your AutoFocus theme, you may want to back up your current version before over-writing the files, so that you don’t lose anything.

A big thanks goes out to Walker for some insight into pulling EXIF data from images uploaded to WP.

Also thanks for all of the GREAT comments I keep receiving about AutoFocus. I really appreciate it! If you find any bugs or errors which is kind of inevitable, please be sure to leave a comment so that I can include fixes/corrections in the next update.

    Hi Allan, love this theme!

Is there a quick and painless way to edit the theme to allow for larger images within the posts? I’m looking to go about 950px across. Do I need to edit a bit of code, or just change the large image size in wordpress?

    Thank you!

Hmm, Yeah that might take a good bit of theme editing, but it isn’t impossible at all.

Hello! I was wondering if you can answer a couple questions for me concerning your blog theme! I am currently using on my page, and I was wondering how I would be able to hide the html tags & attributes label (as seen on the bottom of the comment box), and how I would edit the smaller side column to the right! Thank you for your time! && I hope for your feedback soon!

i have two questions for the creator of this killer theme. (dude, thank you)

    1. For some reason, when I post full size images from wordpress for iphone, they do not resize. they stay huge and span the whole page and look terrible. blah. Thus, I’ve been resizing the images on the Wordpress for iPhone app (but losing resolution and quality).

    2. any one get geotagging to work from a smartphone (wordpress for Bberry or iphone)? I tried to make it work with Geotag, the plug in, but it didnt work. If i could get my high rez iphone pics to post, and geo tag them, this would be, the perfect theme!

    much appreciation from new orleans!

      Thanks Nick,
#1 Not sure why this is happening. I will look into it.
#2 I haven’t looked into geo-tagging features much. Maybe check the WordPress for iPhone site.

      Hey Matt,
Your RSS seems to be working correctly when I checked out your site. Are you still getting an error?

    Hey Allan!
I spent an entire month looking for the perfect theme. I run a photoblog, but I enjoy writing some lines of text with the photos, and the Straight-Only-Photos Themes did not fit my idea. Then I found your theme. Love at first sight.

Today I’m facing my first problem: I’m inserting some Antipixels in my About page. The problem is I can’t manage to put them all on a single line: They take a line each. I tried to modify the page, but in the visual version it’s all ok (one line for all the antipixels). I can’t manage to solve the problem (not a big problem, by the way…)

Thank you for any kind of help you will give me, and thank you very very much for your work.

How can I remove the date tag on the images on the front page? :)

  7. Posted Sep 30, 2009 at 1:18 am | Permalink

LOVE this theme. Unfortunately I am experiencing a strange problem with it. The main page does not always load fully, and stalls at one or another of the posts, leaving off the last few images and the footer entirely. It doesn’t always happen, and doesn’t happen with all posts – some posts always seem to load their image on the home page just fine, other specific posts seem to have trouble frequently, and I have no idea why. Any ideas?

Thanks for such an awesome theme!!!

Love this theme, you did a fantastic job!

Can you point me in the right place where I could inject a rel=”lightbox” into the main image that the theme resets when doing its magic?

I can usually figure this sort of thing out but I couldn’t find it in functions.php where I assume it would need to be.

  9. Posted Oct 3, 2009 at 12:57 am | Permalink

Sorry, I meant inject an anchor with a rel in it but I’m sure you get the gist. :)

    Hy, Allan
    - I do not manage to integrate widgets, above on the right, besides home, à propos and RSS.
    - Is it possible to modify the dates which appear on the home page. And to write text?
My site is very young, Autofocus is fantastic. It is going to help me a lot.
Sorry for my English, I am French and not very bright in languages.
    Thank you

Probably a simple question, but I am new to all of this!

How do I remove the duplicate image on posts?

    Thank you for the theme!

    Hi Allan!
Love the theme ! it totally rocks. quick question – as im a total newbie to wp

how do i size my images so they fit in the boxes on the homepage. at present they are getting cropped in odd places. is there a way to separatly generate a smaller thumbnail for the homepage and then the bigger original for the post or is there another workaround?

    Thanks sooo much !

I have a slight problem with the image tiling on the main page – because a lot of my images are slightly ‘tall and thin’, the resized “large” image which autofocus seems to be using for the main page thumbnail is being tiled – I think this is due to the change:

“Now pulls the ‘large’ (800px wide) image instead of the full size image for CSS backgrounds on the homepage (Images loads faster as a result).”

Take a look at my page to see what I mean.

Fantastic theme though, I’ve been using it for months with no problems until now!

I can’t seem to find an answer to this – on the first page to the left, there is a really bright, almost white arrorw, that leads to my older posts…however, when the cursor comes near it, it gets a darker color, and becomes more visible…I would like it to be a bit darker to begin with though, so visitors notice it and actually click on it and reach my older posts(in another way than my archives page, labelled “äldre inlägg” in swedish). Is this possible?

GREAT theme! I have a bit of a different request for EXIF data. While many want to remove EXIF data, I actually want to display more info. Lens (if available) and shutter speed would be great, but I can’t seem to find the code that handles this. Please help!

Thanks again for a great theme!

    Hello,

As you can see by the link, I love this theme. I’ve done a few tweeks so I can have a sidebar on my posts. However, I’m trying to get a gallery page set up, but when I used the Slickr plugin, the photos ended up half way down the page.

Can you recommend a gallery plugin that works with Autofocus?

    Hi Allan,

Thank you for the theme. We will make a donation. $5.00 seems too little I.M.O

    Q. Is it possible to edit the dimensions that the images display on the ARCHIVES page?

    best,

    David

      Hi David,
Yes, you can adjust the CSS styles to change the crop size of the image crop.

Love the theme! Running it IE7, I’m having a few issues. Do I need to move the ie files from the css folder? I am having trouble with the comments section appearing in the middle of the post – it seems as if the browser isn’t recognising there is content past a certain point. I’ve found the “overflow:visible” attribute, but can’t find where the post content height attribute is, if there is one at all. Any ideas?

Thanks for an AMAZING theme. Love it dearly. Quick question – can I make the image taller? It seems to be stuck at a max height of around 570px regardless of how tall my image is and I can’t figure out where in the code this is being set. Thanks so much!

hello, thanks for the nice theme.

i am trying to integrate the flickr photo album with the theme, everything looks ok except the thumbnails under the album. it suppose to shown like 10 thumbnails under the album, but with the theme, it shows one thumbnail each row, it makes the page looks long. (I tried apply other themes and it works fine like the demo)
I’d like to know where I can fix this problem? It also applies on the smilies I want to add above the comment form, it also shows one icon per row.

    Thank you very much!!! :)
